Nox Virus Outbreak
LBMW Radio Louisville Breaking News
While there is still no word on a cure for the virus, government officials report the virus is not airborne, but it can be transferred through contact with blood and other bodily fluids. The virus seems to be making people uncontrollably violent and also somehow seems to be reanimating the dead. When asked, a White house spokesman declined to comment on whether or not this was a terrorist attack. Due to the violent nature of the ones infected the virus is spreading rapidly. Government officials are reporting that there is no known cure for the virus, and is urging citizens to stay in their homes and avoid contact. Citizens are also urged to lock and barricade all doors, windows and any other point of entry. [[unintelligible]] local governments to declare martial law. The president has [[unintelligible]] citizens find safety and remain calm. Authorities are working on a plan to contain the outbreak.

Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. We have just been informed that the city is now on the emergency power system. Please inform the control center if your shelter is without light. We have confirmed reports that only those bitten by the infected are dying before rising as another one of the infected. Do not approach the infected. Stay indoors, away from windows, and do not make any loud noises.
LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 4
Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. This is a report from the Emergency National Command post in Washington. The president and his key civilian and military aids have been safely evacuated to the emergency seat of government. This evening at 2:35pm the virus has wrecked untold devastation on the civilian population and any survivors are encouraged to use any means necessary to stay alive. The president, whom I repeat is alive and well, will address the nation as soon as his command duties permit. This is the end of the priority 1 report. Local emergency broadcasting stations may resume priority 2 broadcasting.
LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 5
Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. This is a report from the governors office in Frankfurt. The state of conditions in Kentucky is critical. All communication with DC and the emergency seat of government has been lost. The Trimble county power station is severely damaged due to what we believe is the infected being drawn to the heat and noise from the facility. All citizens should seek shelter immediately. Do not attempt to evacuate your area until you are instructed to do so. Local law enforcement personnel should remain in their respective areas. State police have been assigned to more critical areas and additional state aid will become available and be assigned to the worst affected areas.
LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 6
Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. Emergency teams have been established and have begun to operate in various sections of Trimble county. There is a shortage of able bodied man and women to assist with efforts to restore power and order to the greater Trimble county area. All available citizens please submit to the emergency operations center designated as the police station and sanctuary. Further information will be provided upon arrival. Stay safe and god speed.
LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 7
Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. Critical command staff in both the government and military have gone dark. This may be due to lack of long range communication or the infection. Any surviving military please report to your local command leaders for instruction. Further, any surviving local leaders may acquire civilian conscripts as needed to maintain local order. Expect no additional resources from any supply depots. Good luck.
LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 8
Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. Hello, to anyone still listening to these broadcasts. This is Sergeant Apollo. I am the current commander of the local Kentucky National Guard outpost. I will be assuming command of the local area. With many civilian conscripts joining, and a more informal attitude, I am relabeling us as the Kentucky State Standing Army. Our main priority will be the defense, and ongoing operation of the Trimble County Power Station; as well as, maintaining order in the greater Louisville area. We will be calling on any available civilians in the coming days for assistance. Thank you.
LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 9

LBMW Radio Louisville EBS Message 12
Attention. Attention. This is the emergency broadcast system. The riots during the initial zed event have led to the destruction of pumps at multiple gas stations. Gas reserves across the county are dwindling quickly. Currently, the only stations that the KSSA were able to defend are in Sanctuary, Muldraugh, West Point, Riverside, Rosewood, and by the hospital in LV. Good luck survivors.
Rise of the Яequiem of The Returned
The KSSA is now organized and while the records are perfect, Apollo is keeping mission briefings as a way to preserve knowledge.
Sabotage Investigation, April 4th, 1995
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Hello, Let’s get Started. Our remote monitoring system identified multiple points of failure before completely going offline. The peculiar part in this instance is the lack of any weather or obvious direct causes. The timing of the failures is also quite suspect. The initial three happened almost simultaneously. Then two more followed before we completely lost contact with Trimble County. At the failure locations we were able to inspect, the others being overrun by zeds, we found clear evidence of explosives and chainsaws being used to destroy critical infrastructure. This is very clearly sabotage. Our mission today consists of multiple parts. At each location today the primary objective will be to clear the area and investigate the sabotaged areas for any clues as to who may be behind this. We’ll be splitting you into groups, the first group and main host of our volunteers will go to Trimble County Power Plant. At Trimble County, complete the main objectives, further you’ll need to search for any power plant personnel that may have survived, they’ll likely be in the offices attached to the main building. Once complete, return to sanctuary with any evidence and survivors. The remaining groups will travel to the Rosewood Power Box, and Winchester Power Box respectively and complete the primary objectives.
Mission Debriefing
Apollo:
No survivors made it at Trimble County Power Plant. Specialists are en route to fix the failures in the power plant. Mysterious flyers were spread at each sabotage location and around the bodies of the engineers at Trimble County Power Plant.
A New Enemy
St Memphis Aid Request, May 15th, 1995
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Hello, Let’s get Started. To our west outside the KSSA’s governed area a new faction has sprung up in the ruins of Paducah, KY. The survivors of St Louis and Memphis have come together to build the city of St Memphis as the Capital of this area. Their leader, First Lieutenant Jarren Ohorie, has sent Lee Price as a representative. I’ll turn the floor over to him now.
Lee Price:
Volunteers, I'm here as a representative of St. Memphis to barter and request aid from all of you and the KSSA. We're in dire need of fuel, ammunition, and tools. We're willing to provide air drops and air support as needed once we're on our feet.We thank you for your time and support.
Apollo:
Unfortunately, as we hurried to package the shipments, the noise attracted a bit too much heat and we were forced to fall back and abandon the shipments. We’ll be splitting you up into teams. Each team will head to their designated locations, clear out the areas, finish packing the shipments as needed, and then bring the shipment to the northwest checkpoint. Once the shipment is confirmed received at the NW Checkpoint, you can return to Sanctuary for payment.
Mission Debriefing
Apollo:
All supplies were accounted for and Lee and his crew were able to safely make it back to St Memphis. As a further sign of good faith and our future alliance, he suggested a small amount of gas to be distributed back to the citizens of the area. We have distributed a small amount of gas to Rosewood, Riverside, Muldraugh, and Sanctuary. From the reports on the front line, it seems there were a significantly higher than normal amount of zeds attacking each group. I can't help but wonder if this attack was coordinated against our efforts. For sure something to muse over. Thank you all for joining and Good Luck.
Water Treatment Plant Investigation, June 18th, 1995
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, We have a priority mission: the celebration will have to be canceled. About an hour ago we received an alert stating that pollution levels were significantly higher than normal at the water treatment plant. The last time this happened a small group of zeds had wandered into the river and couldn’t get out. Eventually the current washed their filth away, thankfully. This time, the levels are 4-5x higher, meaning there’s likely a significant number in or around the shoreline. On top of this initial alert, we lost all communication with the water treatment plant automated systems and currently cannot raise anyone on the radio. With the timing, I can’t help but worry that once again we’re victims of sabotage. We’ve not yet received any alerts from the power plant, but if it is sabotage, they could target those points of interest as well. We'll be deploying 4 teams, good luck out there.
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
Teams, thank you for your hard work out there. I've had a chance to visit both the water treatment plant and the Trimble County Sub Station. Pictures have been attached below. From the looks of things, the repairs needed to the pump room at the water treatment plant will be extremely extensive, and will not be completed in the near future. Further, all staff that were there at the time of the attack were found dead. As for the sub station, there is damage, but it's mostly random from the huge number of zombies. This should be fixable, but we may need parts/supplies, time will tell. Reports indicate that the Sub Station squad caught one of the ЯTR members actively setting up noise makers to draw in zeds. They chased him out of the area, but failed to catch him. He then drove by the upriver squad drawing in more zombies to their fight. Shortly after that he took shots at the Water Treatment Plant group before pulling in even more zeds to them as well. The Monmouth group sighted him, but he didn't approach. He was finally cornered in West Point where his vehicle was disabled, but due to the active zed population he was able to slip away. We're currently not sure of their full intentions, but it's clear that this group is actively attacking our infrastructure. It's hard to say if they'll openly attack survivors on the road, but for now, please be on guard during your travels. We will continue to investigate and collect information. Stay safe out there.
Defend Encampments, Aug 4th, 1995
Mission Briefing
Mission Objectives
- Fortify the encampments
Apollo:
Good Afternoon, As it is clearly evident, ЯTR is here and are working to directly undermine our efforts to rebuild any semblance of society as we once knew it. Our attempts to find let alone infiltrate this group have been met with failure. We did, however, catch a break. A faction to the north of here named the Southern Indiana Sentinels (SIS) managed to catch two agents operating in their area. After days of interrogation, SIS was only able to glean a small amount of information. They found out that ЯTR stood for Requiem of the Returned, that the members of the Requiem revered the undead, or as they referred to them “The Returned”, as the next step of human evolution, and that the KSSA would be attacked. The Requiem agents unfortunately expired, before any other useful info was attained. Survivors, it’s clear that the attack will be Sanctuary or the Encampments, since that’s the last of the worthwhile infrastructure that we even have. The KSSA will remain here in Sanctuary to stand guard. Survivors, we need you to go to the encampments and fortify them to withstand an extremely heavy assault. There are three M35A2s one for each encampment with supplies gathered and donated from you guys. We’re pulling out all the stops here and have included two mounted 50 .cal guns for each encampment. It’ll be up to you guys to set them up and prepare them as needed. We highly suggest building watchtowers, lookout points, and Chevel de frise. It may also be a good idea to provide anyone defending the encampments one or two quick paths of escape if things start to turn sour.
Briefing update
Mission Objectives
- Defend Encampments
Apollo:
It’s happening, we’ve just gotten word from our perimeter scouts that Requiem agents are leading an enormous host of zombies toward each encampment. I have to be frank with you all, if the Zeds are to overrun an encampment, I don’t think we’ll have the resources and the manpower to take it back without mounting an extreme expedition. Steel yourselves and defend this encampment.
Mission Debriefing
Apollo:
Survivors, first and foremost I’d like you all to take a moment of silence for those we lost during this savage attack…
Thank you. Those of you still with us, I personally want to thank you for your blood and sweat. You’ve managed to hold out and for your efforts we’ve retained two of our camps. The loss of the rosewood camp is a heavy blow, but we’ll manage with two. The defense of our core trade camp was the key victory today, Muldraugh suffered heavy damage to the camp, but the shipment docks and station itself took little to none. This leads me to truly question the Requiem’s motives and what their objectives are. But, that discussion can be saved for another time. The KSSA and Muldraugh teams were also able to mount a rescue mission when all hope seemed lost for the Riverside team, clutching the camp from destruction, and rescuing three members of the defense team. Those remaining managed to climb a roof and hold out with no more ammo and heavy injuries. This morning we sent scouts out to the rosewood camp to investigate what was left and oddly enough there were almost no zeds there, however the damage done is significant and at the moment I don’t think we can or should divert resources to try and rebuild it. In response to these escalations from the Requiem I will be reaching out to St Memphis. Hopefully, they are now more established and their promise to us hasn’t been forgotten. On another note, the Muldraugh team who had a camera team on site, was able to forward me a note with everything the Requiem was shouting during the attack, I’ve attached it below. Good luck out there survivors.
Sanctuary Attack - September 14th, 1995
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, some of you already know this, but we’ve received a message from the Requiem. It stated that they wished to open a dialogue with the KSSA. Instead, I felt it would be more productive for them to speak to all of us. So, I invited their representative here to speak to us today.
RTR Speaker, Heskel Argent:
Everyone, it’s so great to see all of you today here and alive. I hope everyone is well. Further, I hope that there is no ill will toward us, for our actions were never malicious. We act almost as a caring father correcting the path of innocent children. For you all are ignorant of the truth of the world and the Returned. Today, I will enlighten you all on the path to safety, wisdom, and peace. Join with the Requiem, you will never worry for a meal, never live with the crushing loneliness, and never fear for your safety. Those initiated into the fold know and embrace their own returning. In two months time, I myself will celebrate my own Returning on my thirtieth name day and will join our brethren in the world. All initiated old and alike live for one another, we are freed of any burden, loved by each other. This my friends brings me to my final point. We absolutely forbid the killing of any who have Returned, by initiated and uninitiated alike. This kindness also extends to those unfortunate enough to have returned before their 30th names day. For even those wretches have attained a level of enlightenment though far below those who return after. We will not suffer to stand and watch as all of you continue to murder or brethren. If these actions do not cease immediately…
Apollo:
I’ve had about enough of this. You can leave now.. We will not be asked to risk our lives living amongst these abominations that you call the return. They are clearly just dead lifeless husks, with the insatiable instinct to feed. Your delusions will simply lead to the gruesome and disgusting deaths of hundreds of innocent people. Especially those who are ignorant or desperate enough to believe this inane conspiracy.
Heskel Argent
If you will not suffer us and CEASE the murder of our brethren then we will consider this whole area to be lost! You will regret your decision today and the sound of your suffering will be a joyous CHORUS. The melody of our song riseth into a CACOPHONY of retribution!
Yang:
They’re here. Large hordes approaching from the North, Northwest, and South and Southeast.
Apollo:
Survivors, guard this Sanctuary, protect our home.
Power Restoration and Gas Shipment - October 24th, 1995
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, I hope everything is going well. Since the “exciting” events of last week, we’ve heard or seen very little of our Requiem “friends”. I urge you not to become complacent though, I don’t think their threat was empty. In somewhat lighter news, today we just need some help with restoring the power. Seems the storm earlier this week damaged some infrastructure.
Mission Debriefing
Apollo:
Survivors, power has successfully been restored through your efforts! We confirmed there were no sightings of the Requiem, which definitely has us worried. Until we hear different though, celebrate your access to power!
Letter to Survivors - October 31st 1995
[Date: November 20th, 1995]
Dear Survivors,
We’ve been able to extract information from our prisoner. It seems maybe their love for the undead may not run as deep as they claim. It didn’t take long in a cell with a zed before he started spilling his guts, first figuratively, then literally.
Regardless, it seems my unease was warranted after all. The Requiem is planning an all out war on Sanctuary. I’ve already reached out to St. Memphis, and because of all your generous donations, they’re willing to provide any and all close air support we need. With this air support and all of you, I’m confident we can repel any attack they could possibly bring to bear against us.
In the near future we’ll be asking for your assistance to assist with an effort to further reinforce Sanctuary for an attack. Thank you for your time today.
Sincerely,
Lieutenant Apollo
Leader of the KSSA
Distribution: General Public
Sanctuary Bunker - Unknown date
Rebuilding Sanctuary
WTP and Rosewood Camp recovery - April 18th, 1996
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Welcome everyone. I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of rumors surrounding the events that happened on this ground. I’ll do my best to state the events as I know them and hopefully that answers any questions.
First, many of you may know, a fanatical cult-like entity calling themselves Requiem of the Returned had emerged in the area. They had attacked major infrastructure positions and generally caused havoc in the area. At one point they attempted to speak to the masses attempting to sway them to their idiotic beliefs. A ruse to attack Sanctuary directly.
Shortly after, survivors like yourselves had managed to capture an agent from The Requiem. The agent, after some coercion spilled the details on an upcoming attack on Sanctuary. A faction to our west called St Memphis offered close air support during the attack in exchange for some supplies which we gladly accepted. What we never expected was the sheer number of zombies that came at us. Coupled with the RTR agents slipping in and directly throwing small explosives at groups of defenders, it’s amazing we lasted as long as we did. We slowly were pushed back to the school, many severely wounded from the overhead firebombs, zeds, or RTR pipe bombs. As we set up in the school, I heard over the radio, “KSSA being overrun, cleared to send in option B, godspeed to those poor souls.” Realizing what was happening I grabbed who I could and pulled them into the shelter under the school. The rest I think you know.
That brings us to today. I think we’re ready to get repairs done on the water treatment plant and return rosewood survivor camp to active use. We’ll be splitting you into two teams. One for the camp and one for the water treatment plant.
Church Bombing Investigation - May 12th, 1996
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, welcome back, thank you for answering the call today. Someone has been destroying churches. While most of these buildings have already started to decay, we’re worried that this destructive behavior will spread. If this continues even Survivor compounds could come under attack. So we’ll be sending you out in small groups to investigate churches in the area to see if there are any clues as to who may be doing this. With more and more noise towers sighted in the area, it’s without a doubt ЯTR. But, I’d like to confirm before jumping to conclusions. Head to the Greenleaf, Utopia, Rosewood, West Point, Muldraugh, and Lake Ivy Churches and bring back any evidence you can find.
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
The following is a summery of the evidence found by the survivor militia while investigating the bombings. 2 new and different flyers were found at each location strewn about. Bodies of survivors that seem to have been executed, some even strewn up on crosses or hung. I'm reaching out to nearby factions to see if we can start narrowing down where they may be living.
Power Repair and RTR FWB Search - June 09th, 1996
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, as I mention in my last debrief, I’ve begun investigating where RTR are located. I’m relatively certain that they are outside the greater LV Quarantine Zone. So, based on that, I’ve sent envoys to both Southern Indiana and Nashville. I felt it would be pertinent to lay new foundations with these groups even though we’ve worked together in the past. Moving forward to today’s mission, we’ll be working to accomplish two goals. First will be the restoration of power, we’re certain that this recent storm did a number on a couple power poles. I’ve sent a Private ahead to each location to inspect the damage, rendezvous with them and they’ll let you know how to proceed. Another slightly larger team will be going to Trimble County Power Station to investigate a possible explosion and loss of communication. There should be engineers there who can direct you as needed. The rest of you will be searching a couple locations for the possible locations of an RTR forward operating base.
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
The teams looking for the RTR Forward Operating Base both came up empty handed. We're still not certain where they're staging their attacks from here in the area. Please let us know if you see a concentration of noise towers or any other indication of a place they may be using for a forward base.
Further, things aren't looking good for our power situation. The teams were able to successfully repair the two downed power poles, but that was only half the battle. It seems RTR directly attacked the Trimble County Power Plant. The survivor team that cleared it let us know that there was only one engineer who managed to survive the attack. We were able to swing through and pick her up, since the zombies were now light in the area. She was very shaken maybe even slightly delirious, but told us the following:
Williams:
They set explosives on the turbines. The noise brought so many, the guards held for so long... We held up here in the control room, the zeds couldn't get in, but somehow the RTR agents did. They murdered the guards, told us to line up, and executed every one of us, one at a time. They told me I'd get to live to spread the joyous chorus of their song to all.
Apollo:
It's time now for certain that we forge ahead and take the fight to them. We just need solid intel so we're not stumbling through the forest chasing more ghosts.
Thank you everyone for your help today, we're currently working on a way to get the power at least temporarily working, though I've been told if we run at a lower output there may be occasional blackouts.
Scout Deadzone NW of Cincinnati, Ohio - August 21st, 1996
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Hello everyone. Buses are ready to go so I’ll make this quick. I’ve been working with both Nashville and Southern Indiana to try and find any hint of an RTR main HQ. Recently Southern Indiana has been hearing rumors of an area just north west of Cincinnati, Ohio that has completely gone dark. In most cases rural areas slowly go dark as people die or just leave the area. A whole area suddenly going dark is very suspicious so we’re heading there to investigate. Private Calamari has gone ahead to be briefed by the forward scouts. He’ll update us on arrival.
Calamari:
Welcome Survivors. Hope the ride was uneventful, the rest of your day will not be. KSSA scout and engineering detachments, working off of gathered intelligence, were able to start clearing 3 routes leaving the bus stop before they were overrun. Our goal here is to fully explore this area and figure out why it's gone dark. I'll turn this back over the Apollo to set up groups. Good hunting.
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
Since we've returned I've been in touch with South Indiana and they thank you all profusely for clearing such a large number of zeds on the edge of their area. They've since moved in and secured the area, so they can clear out any remaining infected and give those poor souls strung up by the RTR a proper burial. The area will likely be condemned shortly and routinely patrolled for any other signs of RTR. Finding that supply depot was a huge win for us, they'll for sure be hurting for supplies, and hopefully, our scouts can track the agents we were chasing back to their HQ. Thank you all for your help.
Deadzone 60 miles N of Louisville - October 12th, 1996
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Welcome Everyone. As you know, I’ve been working with Southern Indiana on our RTR issue. During our discourse I mentioned the sabotaged turbine at Trimble County, and surprisingly enough, someone had knowledge of a warehouse about 60 miles north of Louisville. This warehouse stored various parts and replacements for machinery in our power plant and those around it.
As a thank you for our efforts outside of Cincinnati, they’re more than happy to let us take whatever we need. There is a catch though, when the Regiment was formed they went through most of these rural towns clearing them and condemning them. They set up fences and barricades all over except some of the main thoroughfares. They did this in an attempt to keep the zed populations low and away from main roads.
So, our mission today will be to check this warehouse. Be ready to clear barricades, fences, and anything else in your path. The turbine we need will likely be large and pretty obvious, but last time I said that Wallace brought back a load of Jack Daniels fridges. And, we’re STILL trying to get rid of that junk. So to make it clear, I’m including a picture of the turbine.
Once found, a KSSA team will bring in a M911 and trailer and load up the turbine. Defend the truck, and make sure it makes it back to the bus station safely. And we'll take it from there.
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
Thank you everyone for another successful mission. The RTR continues to hassle us. I take their recent aggression as insecurity, maybe even desperation as we zero in our their base. We repaired the truck, and were able to get it the rest of the way home. The turbine is now sitting awaiting instillation at the Trimble County plant.
Unfortunately, we no longer have any skilled engineers capable of overseeing the project. I'll be reaching out to the surrounding areas to see if I can make a deal for some expert personal. We definitely need someone to oversee the installation and at least instruct KSSA members on maintenance and operation of the plant.
St Memphis Border Area - November 15, 1996
Mission Briefing
Calamari:
Survivors, We have a major problem. Apollo and White are missing in action. They radioed stating that they were on their way back, but they missed the check in at this station. They were picking up a group of engineers and escorting them back to install the turbine and operate the power station. We’re mounting an immediate rescue mission, saddle up. I’ve scouted ahead a bit, and the bridge to the south has been blown, but looking at old road maps of this area, we should be able to go west, then south, then back east into a small town. We’ll want to make our way to the south side of town to see if we can pick up Apollo’s trail. Stay on your guard everyone!
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
Thank you all for coming to escort Engineer Greg and myself back to the area here. Unfortunately, a few of the engineers died in the initial ambush, but with our prior experience and Greg's help, we were able to install and maintain the power plant for now. The tanker left there was a huge boon and we'll be distributing that gas shortly.
Deadzone between KSSA and Regiment Territories - February 7th, 1997
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, The Regiment has called asking for a favor. They’re asking us to move in and secure a group of manufacturing facilities and rail yard in this area. The plan is to retool these factories for ammo, guns, and medical supplies. So, we’ve deployed into the deadzone somewhere south of Indianapolis. I’m without a doubt that this mission will pay off for all of us in the future. With that said, our mission today will be pretty straight forward. We’re to move in and clear and secure 3 warehouses in the area, followed by a central rail yard. The Regiment provided some basic intel and I’ve updated all your maps with that. Further, I’ve designated each factory with a letter that will correspond to your squad when you get assigned to one. The rail yard is marked with an R. Once you have your designated factory secure, move with your group to the rail yard, spread out, and make sure everything is secure.
Mission Debriefing
Apollo:
Another successful mission.
The Regiment is extremely pleased, they were able to roll in with a light contingent and clear out any remaining zeds and have started working to change the factories over (retool) to produce guns, ammo, and medical supplies. They've promised us a small shipment every week. Of which, the KSSA will make available for sale. We will provide more details on this soon as we start to spin up a shop and get everything in order.
Further, the find of necessary supplies to add into the KSSA Transit Project was a huge boon! We were able to get those counted and added into the main sum off materials.
Thank you everyone for your hard work!
Deadzone near Lexington - March 26th, 1997
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
The KSSA Transit Authority project has been moving along nicely.
We’ve been looking to expand our fleet of buses and parts available for repairs. Even the few uses we have tend to require at least one major repair every mission. Let me tell you, Calamari nearly had a heart attack when I got around to telling him just how low our parts stocks are. This leads us to our mission today. We’ve deployed somewhere near Lexington, KY. Again, we’ve updated you with the limited knowledge that we have of the area and marked the objective for each squad. Our information says there’s a parts warehouse for American Tire and a full repair and refit station for trucks and buses.
You’ll be separated into two groups. Group A will be heading into the parts warehouse to find as many “Crates of usable vehicle parts” and “Usable vehicle parts”. It’s worth being on the lookout for any specific bus parts. Team B will be heading to the repair and refit station. The objective here will be to produce as many “working’ buses as possible that will make the trip back to Sanctuary. We’re not looking to spend all day here. A working engine, tires and battery will be enough I think. We can perform more extensive repairs once the buses are back in Sanctuary.
Deadzone Village of Dibrell, TN - April 7th, 1998
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
Survivors, it’s been awhile.
Thank you all for coming today. First, I want to take a moment to congratulate Sergeant Calamari on his wildly successful Transit System. Further, I’d like to thank each and every one of the volunteers for assisting with that effort. We have plans to further expand this system as you’ve recently seen with the Monmouth and Winchester stops.
Now, on to today’s mission. Recently, as you all know, The Requiem has begun a new crusade on literature while also continuing to harass survivors with noise towers and road blocks. Most if not all books, related stores, libraries, etc have been destroyed. This meaningless destruction is just a continuation of the baseless drivel The Requiem claim to be their religion. After our failure to turn up any solid evidence of a base during our mission near Cincinnati, Ohio, I will be the first to admit that they’re exceedingly difficult to track.
Each tracking party that we send after the groups attacking the bookstores and libraries eventually lose the trail. That being said, we have started to get a rough idea as to where they’re operating. During surveillance of the village of Dibrell, which lies along the route where the trail grew cold, our scouts noted a significant increase in activity, along with an unusual absence of infected.
This prompted an extended period of observation. During this time the scouts confirmed that a convoy passed through the town on the same day each week. We haven’t been able to confirm that these people are with The Requiem without risking the upper hand. Instead, we’re going to send you in, to set up an ambush for this convoy. The primary object will be to stop the convoy. Secondary objectives will be as follows: capture any Requiem that survive, remove any infected threat, and procure any worthwhile supplies.
Mission Debrief
Apollo:
The ambush was a wild success. An RPG hitting the lead vehicle removed two agents almost instantly. Before the smoke cleared, the doors were opened to two of the trailers. Both of which were filled with undead. This surprised the survivors, allowing the remaining agents to inflict a handful of casualties. On top of that, the agents were quite well armed, and due to the positioning of the roadblock forced them into a situation where the only option was to be gunned down. After the Survivors returned to the LV QZ, Scouts continued to observe the situation in Dibrell. Our hope is to use this distraction to send trackers deeper south to hopefully find The Requiem HQ.
Deadzone near Northcutt Plantation - May 22, 1998
Mission Briefing
Apollo:
It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally found it. With the massive distraction caused by the ambush, our trackers were able to slip through and trace the movements of the requiem back to what seems to be their HQ. They observed for 2 days watching an extreme amount of movement but confirmed they were not “packing”. Our mission today will be to eradicate the Requiem. We’ll be hiking with you to just outside the camp where you’ll move in on foot. Once we arrive we’ll finish briefing you on specifics.
Further Briefing
Apollo:
We’ve made it just outside the camp. We’ve confirmed the entire thing is fenced, and there are patrols at random times along the perimeter. The scouts have updated your maps with what’s known of the area. Further, I’ve deposited a map with potential entry points to the external and internal fences in #events. I suggest breaking in from one or both points, and moving as fast as possible to the inner brick fence. Once inside, terminate any Requiem agents and any of their beloved “transcended”.
Mission Debrief
Calamari:
Survivors, during the raid on the Requiem HQ, a message was intercepted. This is a transcript of what was said.
Requiem Leader:
Greetings, KSSA and “Survivors” of the Louisville Quarantine Zone.
How delightful that you've managed to grace us with your presence.
You may address me as Count Victor Durant.
I am an elder of the Requiem of the Returned.
We, who are chosen to remain.
Originally, our mission was simply to spread our song and protect our transcended brothers and sisters.
Yet you continue to slaughter them.
Your insolence demands action.
We will purge the world of any who stand apart.
Did you know that this camp was once used to grow crops, we used non-believers like you to work the fields.
Oh, the simplicity of manipulating feeble minds, incapable of comprehending the magnitude of our blessing.
And yet, you really thought we would simply let you walk in here and destroy everything we’ve built?
Ah, I’ve just been given some delightful news.
The first trucks are arriving at the LV QZ, heralding the arrival of our fury.
Did you really think coming here would protect your homes? Your women? Your progeny?
As if anything was beyond our reach.
I, like the other Requiem elders, have been burdened with immunity.
We remain to orchestrate the symphony of ascension and shepherd all towards enlightenment.
Well, It seems your friends in St Memphis have bailed out your Sanctuary.
Though it’s of no significance, the final notes of our melody play.
Mysteries Deepen
Sanctuary near the LV QZ - June 1st, 1998
Apollo's Journal
It’s a strange feeling waking up with no recollection of the recent past… Everything feels vague, familiar and somehow not. Everything I do has a heavy feeling of deja vu.
As we appraise the situation around us, there are inconsistencies… Our equipment marks the date as June 1st, 1998. Sanctuary has houses that weren’t in the original build plans that we drafted. But, when I opened the build plan there they were. I sent Vips, Joc, and Eclipse to check our camps in the area. They all seemed abandoned, overgrown, and flooded with undead.
With how unpredictable and dangerous the area has become I’ve decided that at least for the time being, all survivors will go through Sanctuary and the Transit system will be suspended. I don’t understand what has happened, but we will secure this area again. Our dream of a future for our home is still possible.
Factories outside of LV Quarentine Zone - Octoboer 16th, 1998
Mission Briefing
Apollo
Good morning survivors.
The KSSA has modified the plans of distilleries to include a pressure regulator valve. We found that this keeps the pressure higher during the ethanol distillation process making it more pure. I’m not sure you’ll see a direct result in better mileage, however it should burn better in engines. This pressure valve, as well as, generic replacement parts for cars are why we need this factory back online.
As discussed in the pre-briefing we’ll be receiving a number of shipments. Drivers will radio ahead to announce which direction they’re coming from via channel 157 MHz. The expectation is that you will meet them and escort them back to the factory to unload them. Once unloaded, the driver will return, you don’t need to escort them out. You’ll also need to find any salvaged parts from various warehouses around the area.
During any downtime you’ll need to be crafting various factory tools using the imported and salvaged parts. These crafts require the high end machines in the factory's machine shop, so they can only be crafted in this room and will take a long time. I’ve posted details for how to craft each item and how many we need of all items on the community bulletin board. We’ve only been able to spare 2 wreckers and a bus to help facilitate movement between the bus station and the factory on location.
Raven Creek Front Gate - Feb 12th, 1999
Mission Briefing
Calamari
Thank you everyone for being here today. Let's get right into it.
As you know, Raven Creek has been barricaded. We’ve had probing attacks on entry points to various degrees of success.
Survivor efforts have proven to be somewhat effective, if not in the way we originally intended. With the number of zeds cleared here over the past days, we’ve been able to confirm that zeds in some locations are now fewer in number than in others.
That is not to say that this will be easy, however.
Our objective today is two fold. First, we need a group of people who feel comfortable trying to scout for points of access. You will be going south and checking the entry point at the military camp. You do not, and should not, attempt to breach and enter. We need the element of surprise. This group should be no larger than 5 people. We need to stay stealthy. Be smart about this.
The rest of you, we need distraction. We’re going after the front gates. Determine between yourselves who’s going scouting. Everyone else, check your gear and get ready for butcher's work.
Mission Debrief
Calamari
Well done. We got the information we needed, and with minimal casualties. We will be planning our next move based on the information from the Southern and Northern entrances.
As you’ve seen the zone is deadly at this time, and the city is quite heavily infested.
Raven Creek Liberation - March 17th, 1999
Mission Briefing
Calamari
Good morning Survivors
We’ve continued to harass the northern tunnel and keep their attention here, and the military base is still our cleanest entry point.
Our objective today is to breach and enter, and begin clearing from there. Our route will be through the woods, we don’t want to be spotted and we want to hit hard before they can respond.
Since our scouting team was spotted scouting, ЯTR have posted lookouts on the watch towers along the fences. As you sneak through the woods, if you are spotted they will send a pack of zeds at you and alert others to movement.
Once you reach the military base, we will use explosive charges to breach the doors, and clear the area.
While you are working on this, KSSA agents will begin clearing the northern tunnel route in a 1-2 punch to the ЯTR’s grim grip on this city.
Today we liberate Raven Creek. Good hunting, Survivors.
After Action Report
Calamari
The majority of survivors were able to sneak past the guard towers as we approached the military camp. A few were spotted though, and some general alarms were sounded as various Survivors were spotted.
We breached the southern military base and, while there are certainly zeds there, it was much lighter than the Northern blockade. Reports were that these zeds felt stronger, and indeed it took multiple blows that would commonly prove fatal to bring them down. At this point the KSSA triggered our first designation of a black zone.
We believe that survivors being spotted triggered the RTR to mobilize zeds from the northern blockade and attempt to lock the survivors in, creating a hammer and anvil situation in the camp. This nearly worked, but quick thinking on Spitfires part kept the survivors moving north, through the city, and away from the trap.
KSSA was able to push up to and breach the Northern blockade, but resistance was too heavy for us to attempt to clear a path towards survivors. We made the decision to prepare for an airstrike if needed and radioed St. Memphis with the request.
Survivors fought street to street, clearing zeds as they made their way north. Resistance within the city was quite heavy, and RTR presence was still felt. As survivors approached the previous concentration of zeds in the north and started sustaining casualties, we made the decision to execute the airstrike and also begin pushing through the tunnel from the East to meet up with the survivors as quickly as we could.
The mission was an overall success, we were able to break both blockades of Raven Creek, and remove the RTR's grip on the city. This new set of zeds they're deploying concerns us, but research is ongoing with the date recovered from Lake Cumberland. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a new threat escalation of the Knox virus.
First contact, again - May 3rd, 1999
Personal Journal, Sgt. Calamari
We deployed survivors to the city of Cory, a location that we haven’t gone back to since we initially set up an official KSSA bus stop location. It was still the same as it’s always been; the area infested in shambling masses, the smell of a city in decay, buildings starting to show age and visibly falling apart. The newest thing in that city was the presence of zombies. Zombies, and one other interesting bit of news that got us to mobilize, the noted presence of a recently set up Luminescent lab. We’ve had interactions with them in the past…well…I suppose the future? The whole T.A.R.E. system really messed with reality, but then, so did the undead so I suppose at this point we just roll with it. Our previous dealings with this group are what led to the creation of the current pod system; it seems necessity really is the mother of all invention. Knowing there’s always something their researchers are working on, and getting intel that it was evacuated in the last couple of days, we decided to move before the RTR could get to the location. We were only ahead of them by hours, and the paranoid part of me wonders if it was fully a coincidence or not.
Putting that aside, the Survivors were able to secure the compound and retrieve the instruction manual for using the Fabricator. It details the use of some kind of key item and then further asks for an authorization code. I don’t know anything about a key, but the authorization code we have a good guess about. It’s likely put through the radio, but none of us are trained in communications to the extent needed to crack whatever code they’re using. I’m reading outdated and mostly irrelevant training manuals, but these things look like they were printed in the early 80’s and were probably already old when they got here. Still, we’re trying… Survivors activated the fabricator, which activated the alarm for the facility and then about 6 minutes later the fabricator overheated itself to the point of destruction. Importantly, now we know what we’re looking for, the markings of the Luminescent are the same as they…. were before. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of their hideouts and facilities with the level of RTR activity we’ve been seeing. Somehow we have to navigate these two factions as best we can, and hope to not be caught between them.
After Action Report - August 9th, 1999
AAR: KSSA interception of LUM signals.
August 9th, 1999 Benton, KY
Conducted by Sgt. Calamari
Objective: Intercept radio signals sent from St. Memphis/Luminescent (StM/LUM) outposts to their field agents in an attempt to gather any information of value.
Execution: Utilizing local assets we were able to transport KSSA and Survivor operatives into the Benton, KY region. Upon arrival the radio tower was secured, and as expected the zeds were drawn to the increased movement and noise made by people in the area. Fortifications were installed, and after a perimeter check was executed and several breach events, additional locations around the station were reinforced. A storm in the area reduced our capabilities to intercept radio signals and communicate with survivors between Benton and Sanctuary, though we found ourselves unable to break through their encryption. Not a total loss, we were able to gather enough information for us to gain access to the frequency used by LUM operatives to locate supply caches. We’ve provided this frequency to survivors and they should now be alerted whenever a nearly LUM cache pings its location. This should allow us to intercept these supply caches for ourselves. While some of them are empty when we do arrive at their location this is to be expected since we’re pirating their signals for our own benefit.
Casualties: No casualties outside of expectations were seen at this event, and LUM pod technology continues to operate within normal parameters.
Next steps: We will continue to attempt to intercept and break the encryption on signals we are able to intercept from StM/LUM in hopes of finding additional information and resources for us to utilize.
Infrastructure Sabotage - July 26th, 2000
Briefing:
Good afternoon Survivors. Let’s get right down to it. After we lost power and water the other night, I sent out our typical infrastructure repair team to investigate. We lost contact with all teams shortly after. We’re going to tackle power first, you’ll be split up into 3 teams. One group will be going to Muldraugh Substation to investigate and repair problems there. One group will be going to Trimble County Power Plant. And the last group will be going to a power building on the south side of West Point. Your task will be to escort a KSSA member to each location and guard them while they investigate and repair the location. ]
DeBriefing:
Survivors, I’ll be the first to congratulate you all on a successful mission. It’s clear that the RTR has once again commence attacks within our borders. While we were able to fix the surface level issues with infrastructure pieces, there seems to be a bigger issue at Trimble that’ll take a more coordinated and precise approach. Look forward to multiple smaller missions aimed at resolving the bigger issue at hand.
Facility Investigation - December 23rd, 2000
Briefing:
Welcome back again. We'll make this brief because time is of the essence. We're going into a small town with a potential factory that may have a manufacturing plant at it. At the target location we're going to split into two groups. One group will hold the town and make sure that we’re not interrupted while we infiltrate the facility area. The other group will move into the facility and hold it while someone from the KSSA investigates. Our goal here is to try and identify if there’s a way to disarm the security system on the facility before the control terminal explodes.
Debriefing:
Unfortunately, the facility was already tampered with and the control box had exploded by the time we got there. We did however, find on one of the ЯTR personal that attacked us at the facility. I'll let the letter speak for itself.
